Yoga with Olive – 10 on 10 Collaboration Project

So since last month I tried to figure out what I would do for my next 10 on 10. I have been wanting a remote shutter release for my camera for a while, so after Christmas I finally bought one. Then I wanted to play with it, and I thought it would be fun to document what it’s like to exercise at home with a dog.

I have been getting back into yoga for the last few months after a long hiatus, so I thought it  fitting to practice my asanas and show you the  added mental challenge a pet brings to your practice. I also find it pretty entertaining because I love my dog a lot and she kisses me at inappropriate moments. (For more #yogawithOlive follow me on Instagram!)

Speaking of mental challenges, I signed up for a 30 day Bikram challenge that starts the day after Valentine’s day. I have never ever done anything remotely like this and it will be a miracle if I actually finish it, but we’ll see. Any words of encouragement or advice you may have are welcome in the comments below.

Check out the other photographers in the 10 on 10 project:

Pet Portraits by CLB Creative

As most of you know, I have been creating these pet portraits in my free time since last November. I started it as something I thought would make me a little extra cash for Christmas gifts, but it has now spiraled into it’s own thing.  I get at least 2 requests per week, and each week it has been gaining momentum.  These have now started to get added to people’s wedding registries, and someone even got a tattoo of theirs!  The enthusiasm has been very humbling and thrilling, to say the least.

The thing is, they are the perfect gift for any pet lover.  Whether it’s a dog, cat, fish, or any other furry friend, the recipient gets a personalized, thoughtful, and completely unique portrait of their companion.

Here are a few I have done so far.  If interested, you can purchase them on my Etsy shop or you can message me directly on my Contact page!

Austin the Golden Retriever

I love dogs.  Like, I really love dogs.  I love dogs more than I love most humans.  So whenever I get to photograph one, I go bananas.

Or in Austin the Golden Retriever’s case, we go chicken bologna.

I met up with Austin and his mom and dad the same day I shot Lindy and Jason’s engagement session.  It was such a fun end to the day, Austin ran around and played with his toys and showed off his tricks in exchange for some chicken bologna.  (Luckily, that stuff isn’t as fattening as the classic kind so Austin can watch his figure.)

On top of being really smart, cute and friendly, Austin is also a therapy dog which makes him a well-rounded badass.  (Read: I wish I could clone him.)

Don’t you want to just cuddle him right now? I know I do.

At Least I Can Always Get My Dog to Pose for Me

One thing I’m learning quickly as I build my business is plans can change.  I originally had three photoshoots planned for this weekend and one by one this week they all fell through.

Luckily, I still got to get in some good camera practice in with my dog, Olive.  She’s always willing to strike a pose.   That is, if I have something for her in return.

Behold, the power of bacon treats.

Double Trouble

We babysat Olive’s sister Laika this weekend.  There was a lot of energy happening in my apartment. A lot.

I really wanted to take the girls to the Hollywood dog park to get that energy out, but that didn’t happen once we stepped outside.  It was about 1,000 degrees this past weekend.  And I don’t know about you, but being outside in heat like that is just the worst.  High temperatures also increase the chances for short-nosed dogs to overheat, and dead dogs are like, not as fun as the alive ones.  Laika’s owners probably wouldn’t have been too happy with me.

So, we spent the day in air conditioning, playing with toys and running around like crazies.  I was able to get the girls to sit still long enough for a few pictures.  Treats were involved.

Now that Laika is safe and home and not at all overheated, we are all enjoying a lazy Sunday. Olive is catching up on some Zzz’s.
